Bras gone wild



My wife tells me finding a good bra can be a hassle. It's an ongoing battle between comfort, looks and having proper support, she says.

With her help and that of other women willing to provide personal guidance, I began scouting bra sources on the web. My goal was to find the best source from among the several online stores stocking a large variety of brands, styles and sizes.

The winner: Freshpair.

The Goddess Cantilevered Strapless Bra is billed as "a wonderful option for full figure brides or anyone looking for a stay-put strapless option."

The cantilevered technology of this bra provides support and shaping without support panels, cookies or lining.

Each cup features two-strip boning for a lovely shape, and the fine lace along the top adds femininity. The bottom cups are opaque, but the tops are sheer to create a lovely bustline.

Here's one specifically for full-figured ladies: Olga Sheer Tapestry Full Figure Minimizer Bra, which promises "elegant detail in a seamless supportive design."

The Tactel Tapestry lace provides amazing support and works well under more form fitting tops. Gently molded cups are lined and the wider shoulder straps add additional comfort.

This bra also features gold metal strap hardware and four-hook back closure with three adjustments to ensure a perfect fit.

OK, this is not a bra exactly but when I saw the picture I knew I wanted to put it under my spotlight, too: the Magic Silk Chiffon Camisole & Thong Set with Lettuce Trim.

Made from 100% silk, the top has adjustable spaghetti straps and a cropped midriff. The thong has a cotton crotch for wearability and smooth stretch elastic that doesn't pinch or bind.

This outfit, which is available in a variety of prints and solids, will "make you feel as beautiful as you look," the description promises.

And if you're wondering about National Underwear Day, it comes around on Aug. 11. Freshpair launched this celebration in 2004, when they sent models out on the streets of New York City clad in only their underwear, to petition for official recongition of National Underwear Day.
